The first home game of the season at 'Bentegodi' for the gialloblu ends with a draw. The game had few chances in the first half but the gialloblu had a territorial supremacy until the '40 minute when Giancola conceded a penalty to Spezia that Di Gennaro converted.
In the second half, Porcari was sent off after two minutes for the second yellow card of his gam after a foul on Jorginho.

Hellas attack a lot having a clear supremacy in the game and in the '70 minute the gialloblu have a penalty: Goian was sent off for a last man foul on Gomez.
The Argentinian scored and the aquilotti were down to 9 men for twenty minutes.
The gialloblu try to win it but they were too tired to do it.

First half:
'18: Sansovini tries the spectacular from 25 yards but the ball goes wide away;
'22: good move by Hellas with Rivas and Jorginho: the ball goes to Gomez who is closed before he can shoot;
'25: Sansovini again tries the volley with no luck;
'37: Bacinovic to Hallfredsson who immediately shoots without finds the goal;
'39: Rivas starts from the left passes around a Spezia defender and shoots but Russo saves;
'40: Crespo fouls Okaka in Verona's area and the referee blows a penalty for the liguri;
'41: Gol for Spezia! Rafael doesn't touch the ball as Di Gennaro gives Spezia the lead.

Second half:
'47: Jorginho steals the ball and Porcari fouls him: second yellow card and the defender is sent off;
'48: cross from the left by Hallfredsson, Rivas with the header but the ball is over the bar;
'50: again Jorginho to Rivas who shoots but Russo saves again;
'59: Hallfredsson tries a shot from 25 yards, over the bar;
'61: Gomez tries the shot but Russo saves;
'65: Rivas crosses from the left but the defense clear;
'67: long pass to Okaka who controls and passes to Sansovini whose shot is outside Rafael's goal;
'68: penalty to Hellas!!! Gomez sidesteps two defenders and goes one-on-one against Russo but Goian fouls him and is sent off by the referee. Spezia down to nine men!
'70: GOOOAAAL!!! 1-1!!! Hellas are back in the game with Juanito Gomez penalty. Spezia will play the next twenty minutes in 9 men.
'76: another cross by Hallfredsson, Jorginho tries to shoot but a defender touches and concedes a corner kick;
'80: a rugby scrum in Spezia's area but Russo touches the ball with his fists;
'90: three minutes added time;
'93: full time at 'Bentegodi', 1-1, Hellas throw away an excellent chance to find the first win of the season.
